State and Lake County health officials are investigating two deaths associated with Legionnaires' disease at a Vernon Hills retirement community. The Lake County Health Department said two other people at the Park at Vernon Hills have also tested positive for the bacteria, which spreads via contaminated mist or water vapor. The deaths occurred in September and early November. Health officials said the illness appears to be contained within the facility and is not contagious. A rain-forest facility at the home has been shut down, and testing is under way to see if it is the source of infection.

Alsip police attempted to pull the motorist over near 115th and Cicero, police said, but the vehicle sped away. The chase ended when the suspects' vehicle ran out of gas in Orland Park, according to authorities. Two men were taken into custody, police said.
