Bond set for 4 men charged in Bridgeport kidnapping

November 1, 2009

Bond was set Saturday for four men accused of kidnapping a man Thursday in the Bridgeport neighborhood.

Bond was set at $150,000 for Donald W. Hines, 39, of Aurora; Jeffrey J. Hollinghead, 43, of Round Lake; and Kevin A. Koonce, 25, of Villa Park. They are charged with kidnapping and home invasion with a firearm.

A fourth defendant, Curtis A. Sanders, 34, of Chicago, has a previous felony drug conviction and received a bond of $175,000.

The four kidnapped a 28-year-old man from a home in the 3700 block of South Union Avenue, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Martha Kross.

The men allegedly demanded ransom from the victim's family. Police say the crime was drug-related.

Hollinghead went to a trash can to pick up the ransom, spotted police, dropped the ransom and tried to escape, Kross said.
