Wilmette senior tied up, robbed by armed home invaders

WILMETTE — An 82-year-old Wilmette resident was tied up in her home and robbed and gunpoint, police reported Friday

The incident took place about 9:30 p.m. Thursday night in the 2500 block of Marion Lane, as the woman was leaving the house to walk her dog, according to a report.

Three masked individuals, one armed with a handgun, forced her back inside where they and bound the victim before ransacking the home.

An undisclosed amount of jewelry and cash was taken from the home, police said.

The victim was discovered and freed by family members who returned home at 10:30 p.m. and police responded to a call placed at 10:43 p.m.

According to police, the family owns a restaurant in Chicago and appears to have been specifically targeted for the crime.
