South Side fire sends at least one to hospital

A woman was hospitalized after she jumped out of a third-floor window when a fire erupted inside a home in the Englewood neighborhood on Monday night.
The woman was taken to Stroger Hospital after jumping out of the burning building in the 5900 block of South Peoria, according to Fire Media Affairs.
The woman’s age and condition were not immediately known, but officials said she was conscious and alert before being transported.
The fire displaced five adults and eight children, Fire Media Affairs said, adding that firefighters extinguished the blaze about 11:30 p.m.
