One person was killed and two were critically injured in a crash about 2 p.m. Sunday on the southbound Dan Ryan Expy. at 95th Street, Illinois State Police said.
A man in his 70s lost control of his SUV and struck a sedan parked on the right shoulder of the Ryan, Illinois State Police District Chicago Master Sgt. Robert Satkiewicz said.
A man in the sedan was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Satkiewicz said.
A second person in the sedan and a person outside the sedan were taken to Stroger, Satkiewicz said. Both were listed in serious to critical condition, according to Fire Media Affairs.
The SUV driver was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for observation, Satkiewicz said.
Alcohol or drugs didn’t appear to have played a role in the crash, Satkiewicz said.
Two of five lanes of traffic were blocked because of the crash, Satkiewicz said.
