Bank robber strikes again — this time carrying a stuffed toy

A man dressed as a construction worker who robbed an Uptown bank branch in December struck the same branch again on Friday — this time carrying a stuffed toy, officials said.

The man entered the North Community Bank branch in the 4700 block of North Clark Street about 11 a.m. with his face partially covered by a white construction mask, FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde said in a statement.

He approached a bank employee, demanded money and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, Hyde said. No weapon was shown and injuries were reported.

The robber was described as a 6-foot-2, 240-pound white man wearing a light-colored fleece jacket with dark patterns on the sleeves, black pants and a white knit cap over a dark hat with a brim, Hyde said. He appeared to be carrying a green stuffed toy.

The man is suspected of robbing the same bank Dec. 20, 2012, the FBI said.

In that robbery, the man entered the bank with his face covered wearing a construction vest, hat and carrying a bucket, the FBI said.
