An extra-alarm fire at a Streeterville high-rise Friday morning left one woman injured.

More than 160 firefighers and paramedics responded to the two-alarm fire about 11 a.m. on the seventh floor of a 27-floor high-rise at 230 E. Ontario, in a residence above Ron of Japan restaurant. The injured woman lived in the damaged unit, said Chicago Fire Department Commissioner Jose Santiago.

She was taken to Northwestern hospital, according to Chicago Media Affairs. Her condition was unknown, but her injuries were not life-threatening, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Flames were contained to the unit where the fire started, and the smoke stayed around the seventh floor, Santiago said.

Stefan Shine was getting out of the shower in his fourth-floor unit around 10:30 a.m. when he saw smoke coming through the vents and quickly got outside.

“I walked around the front [of the building], and it was blazing up there. Flames were shooting out the window,” Shine, 39, said.

Fourth-floor resident Mark Marshall said a building manager told him the fire’s cause appeared to be electrical.
