Strong winds Saturday night helped topple a vacant Woodlawn home that was undergoing a renovation.
Firefighters were called to the home in the 6300 block of South Evans around 10:50 p.m., Chicago Fire Department officials said.
Meg Ahlheim, a department spokeswoman, said the high winds were likely to blame for the collapse.
One neighbor who lives across the street from the building said the renovation had stopped for the winter but had involved gutting most of the interior. The neighbor said much of the building collapsed into a vacant lot to the north.
