The body of a man was discovered on the L train tracks near the LaSalle Blue Line station early Monday, authorities said.
The conductor of an L train discovered the man’s dismembered body as the train pulled into the LaSalle station about 1:45 a.m., said police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro. It appeared that the body had been hit by a train.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office, the body had been on the tracks for some time when it was discovered.
CTA workers briefly shut off power on the tracks after the body was found, according to unconfirmed dispatch reports.
Area Central detectives have launched a death investigation.
