A Sauk Village man has been convicted in the murder of a 15-year-old girl who was found dead in a creek in the south suburb in 2008, according to a release from the Sauk Village Police Department.
Timothy N. Easley, 22, was found guilty of killing Brashai Griffin, whose body was found face-down in a creek near 223rd Street and Torrence Avenue in Sauk Village on April 4, 2008. An autopsy determined she had been strangled.
Easley, who was 18 when he was charged in September 2008, was charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault.
The Sauk Village teenager, nicknamed “Shay-Shay” by family and friends, was reported missing a day earlier after her mother couldn’t find her when she returned home from work, Sauk Village police said.
Friends and family described the girl as an honor student who aspired to be a fashion designer and was active in her church, Homewood’s South Suburban Church of God.
A sentencing hearing for Easley was scheduled for Jan. 30 at the Markham Courthouse, according to police.
