Reward increased to find other suspects involved in killing Chicago Police officer

It’s been one year since Chicago Police Officer Clifton Lewis was shot and killed by masked robbers in an Austin neighborhood grocery store where he was moonlighting as a security guard.
On Saturday, which marked the grim anniversary, police officials announced an increased reward of $40,000 for information about his killers. The reward had been $33,000.
While two men have already been charged in the slaying, police believe one or more people involved in the robbery and murder are still out there.
“We’re not going to stop until we close this case,” Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said at a news conference surrounded by other top cops, Lewis’ family and his coworkers.
Police said they believe the perpetrators talked about their crime.
“We want these people to come forward and say ‘So-and-so told me ...’ and we believe that will help get any additional offenders there are,” Lt. Denis Walsh said.
Tyrone Clay and Edgardo Colon were charged in January with first-degree murder of a peace officer as well as murder while in the commission of an armed robbery. Both are being held at Cook County Jail, records show.
Maxine Hooks, the mother of the slain 8-year veteran of the department, said she hopes all the killers are brought to justice.
“At least they will be punished for what they did,” she said, tears welling in her eyes. “I feel that they’ll be punished here on Earth and then the Lord will punish them.”
