The driver of an SUV was killed early Monday when he crashed his Chevrolet Blazer into the back of a parked semi-trailer in the city’s Pilsen neighborhood.
The wreck happened about 3:45 a.m. in the 2400 block of South Ashland Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:05 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
At one point, Ashland Avenue was closed from Blue Island Avenue to 31st Street, according to unconfirmed dispatch reports. However, investigators were allowing Chicago Transit Authority buses to travel their normal routes through the area.
The police Major Accidents Investigations Unit is investigating.
