Bank branches in west suburb, Loop robbed

In separate incidents in downtown Chicago and west suburban Batavia, men armed with handguns robbed two bank branches Friday and Saturday.
About 10:08 a.m. Saturday, a man robbed the Old Second National Bank branch, at 1078 E. Wilson Street in Batavia, according to police. The bank robber, described as a white man between 25 and 30 years old, about 5-feet, 9-inches tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head and a black scarf covering his face, displayed a black semi-automatic weapon, police said. He got away possibly in a white or light-colored smaller 4-door sedan with an unknown amount of cash, according to police.
No one was injured.
In the city, a man with a handgun robbed the Citibank branch at 222 W. Adams Street on Friday, according to the Chicago FBI office. This bank robber was a black man in his 20s, wearing dark clothing and a scarf over his face. He also displayed a handgun in the course of the robbery.

There have been at least 214 bank robberies in the Chicago area this year. In 2011 there were 115 bank robberies in the Chicago metropolitan area, according to the FBI.
