A 40-year-old woman was seriously injured after she was hit by a Metra train in the Aurora-Naperville area Thursday.
“It appears so far that she intentionally stepped in front of the train on purpose,” Naperville police spokesman Lou Cammiso said of the victim.
The woman was struck on the north side tracks at the Route 59 station shortly before 2 p.m.
A nurse who was on westbound train #184 of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe line got off to give the victim medical assistance until paramedic arrived.
Columbia College student Tavarrie Meeks said the woman looked like she was in a state of shock.
I saw she was underneath my car on the train,” he said. “She was in between the tracks... but had blood all over her legs.”
The woman remained in critical condition at Edward Hospital in Naperville.
