Stroller-using commuters Wednesday started receiving fliers reminding them to be “stroller savvy” on CTA buses and trains.
CTA President Forrest Claypool announced the informational campaign last month, encouraging parents to be “considerate” — meaning keep those strollers clear of the aisles and doors to make room for disabled and senior riders.
He said he hears more and more complaints from bus drivers as strollers get bigger and bigger.
“I’m very happy to be making a concerted effort to educate our operators to tell riders, politely but firmly, what the policy is,” Claypool told reporters last month.
The “Be Stroller Savvy!” fliers are being passed out to stroller users on buses and are also available at CTA train stations. The transit agency’s stroller policy — in place since 2003 — hasn’t changed, spokesman Brian Steele said. But the campaign is intended to educate customers, and serve as a “refresher” to bus drivers, he said.
