High school students target of robbers in Roseland

Police are warning residents of the Far South Side Roseland neighborhood of a series of armed robberies of high school students before and after school.

In three separate incidents on Nov. 26 and 27, students from Gwendolyn Brooks High School at 250 E. 111th St. were accosted by several males, a community alert said.

At least one offender during each incident was armed with a handgun as the robbers took money and other property from the victims before fleeing the scene.

The offenders are described as black males 17-19, 5-foot-9 to 6-foot-4, and 140-170 pounds with medium-light complexions, and short dreadlocks. Three robbers wore black facemasks covering the lower part of their faces.

At lease one weapon was described as a blue steel revolver, according to the alert.

Anyone with information should call Area South detectives at (312) 747-8273.
