A Back of the Yards man on a wild goose chase was arrested on the Northwest Side on Sunday night after police found the large bird in his vehicle.

Police found a wild goose inside Angel Bautista-Perez’ SUV about 7:35 p.m. Sunday in the 3600 block of North California Avenue, police said.

Bautista-Perez, 29, of the 5100 block of South Loomis Street, was charged with one count each of misdemeanor animal cruelty and possession of a migratory bird, police said.

Police said it was unclear exactly why Bautista-Perez had the bird, or where and how he captured it.
