A 73-year-old Northwest Side man was charged with murder on Tuesday for the fatal shooting of his 23-year-old son during an altercation two weeks ago in the Albany Park neighborhood.

Tiny Tim Gilbert of the 4900 block of North Whipple was charged with first-degree murder, police said. Gilbert remains hospitalized, but a bond hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office.

Bryan Lopez, 24, was shot about 11 a.m. on Nov. 15 at their home, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Lopez was shot in the head by his father during a physical altercation, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said at the time.
