A 20-year-old man has been charged in connection with recent robberies on the South Side of people who were responding to ads of men seeking men that had been posted on Craigslist.
Andrew Jones, of the 8100 block of South Merrill, was charged with aggravated battery and armed robbery, police said.
When the victims would meet Jones, he allegedly confronted them with a handgun and took them to the rear of the location, police said. He would then take the victims’ belongings and cars.
In one instance, the offender allegedly shot one victim in the crotch and backside.
At least two robberies took place in the 400 block of East 49th Street — one on 11:30 p.m. Nov. 5, the other a week later at 9:45 p.m., police said.
