Man charged in barbershop shooting

A shooting that turned a West Side barbershop into something more like the Wild West ended up Sunday in Cook County Criminal Court.

Jonathon Jordan, 31, was charged with opening fire Oct. 24 at a barbershop in the 500 block of North Central Street, targeting a man with whom he had allegedly been feuding. The man jumped out of his chair and tried to crawl away, but bullets struck him multiple times.

He still has three slugs lodged in his body, prosecutors said in court Sunday. He was treated at Stroger Hospital.

Jordan is also accused of pointing a gun at a Maywood woman in a “domestic related” dispute Oct. 14 in the 700 block of North Ridgeway, according to court records.

He is charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault on public property, and weapons violations.

Judge Edward Harmening set his bail at $1 million.

Jordan has four prior felony convictions, prosecutors said.
