At least three people fell ill during a Veterans Day ceremony Sunday in Tinley Park.
One elderly man who is a member of one of the village’s military organizations that was taking part in the ceremony was taken by paramedics to an area hospital after becoming ill. Information about his ailment and condition was not immediately available.
A young man who was part of a color guard unit was treated by paramedics but did not require hospitalization. He had been ill prior to Sunday’s ceremony, which included the dedication of the village’s Veterans Plaza, according to Village Manager Scott Niehaus. The teen is part of the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Lincoln-Way North High School, which was participating in the dedication ceremony.
