The state Department of Children and Family Services is investigating allegations of neglect in connection to the death of a 6-month-old South Side girl.
Kelsey Dandridge was found unresponsive Tuesday at her home in the 7800 block of South Woodlawn Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
She was initially taken to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center but then transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where she was pronounced dead at 7:10 p.m. Saturday, according to the medical examiner’s office.
DCFS is investigating allegations of neglect involving both parents, in response to a hotline call the agency received on Friday, DCFS spokesman Dave Clarkin said.
One sibling of Kelsey’s has been placed with a family member and DCFS has not had any prior contact with the girl’s family, Clarkin said.
Area South detectives are also investigating.
