Daley Plaza Christmas tree gets cut down
SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE November 1, 2012 11:02AM
This year’s Daley Plaza Christmas tree is now on its way to Chicago.
The 64-foot Colorado spruce tree owned by the Theiszman family of Prospect Heights was cut down on Thursday and will be delivered to Daley Plaza Friday evening.
The spruce was chosen as Chicago’s 99th annual Christmas tree after the Theiszman family submitted their tree for consideration to the city’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events earlier this year.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Theiszmans will light the tree on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
The ceremony will include the cast of the Goodman Theater’s 35th anniversary performance of “The Christmas Carol,” and the all-male vocalist group, Gentelman’s Rule. The tree will be lit at 5 p.m.
