A man was pulled from Monroe Harbor by divers Tuesday afternoon and pronounced dead a short time later, officials said.
The man, estimated to be in his late 30s, was pulled from the water by rescue personnel around 3:20 p.m. and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
A Cook County Sheriff’s jacket was found along the shore near the body, police said.
Cook County Sheriff’s spokesman Frank Bilecki said the last name on the jacket matched two current employees and a retiree, all of whom were contacted. The coat could have been stolen from the retiree whose home was recently burglarized, Bilecki said.
