Man dies on the South Side Wednesday after crashing SUV into tree

A 57-year-old man was killed when he lost control of his sports-utility vehicle and crashed into a tree near Jackson Park on the South Side, authorities said.
Vinton Glover crashed his Ford SUV into the tree while driving in the 6000 block of South Cornell Avenue in the Hyde Park neighborhood about 9:14 p.m. Wednesday, said police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
Authorities say Glover, of the 5400 block of South Ingleside Avenue, was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Area South detectives are investigating.
