An Irving Park man was arrrested Wednesday who allegedly had marijuana plants with a street value of more than $500,000 in his Northwest Side home.
The police Gang Enforcement Team recovered 100 marijuana plants, $30,000 in cash and two illegal firearms from the home of a 50-year-old man in the 3900 block of north Elston Avenue, according to a police.
The officers had gotten a tip about the “exotic hydroponic operation,” police said. Police executed a search warrant and took the man into custody without incident.
The plants, which weighted more than 5,000 pounds, have a street value of more than $500,000, police said.
