Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle says count her out for a run for governor in two years.
Although Preckwinkle’s name has been floated for a possible 2014 bid and her supporters have done some polling, the Democrat was emphatic on Tuesday.
When asked before the Sun-Times Editorial Board if she was open to the idea of running for governor, she didn’t waver.
“No,” she said plainly. “I’m going to run for re-election for the job I have.”
When a reporter commented that her answer seemed like a definitive “no,” Preckwinkle said: “I guess so.”
