Police shot a man after he fired a gun at them Monday in west suburban Addison, officials said.
Officers came under fire from an armed man about 6:30 p.m. at a home in unincorporated Addison while investigating an earlier hit-and-run crash, according to an Addison police.
Police set up a perimeter around the home and evacuated residents from the area while the man holed up inside the home, police said.
The man eventually came out of the house shooting at police and was shot, according to the police.
The initial hit-and-run crash happened at the intersection of Lake Street and Lombard Road about 5:40 p.m., police said.
The DuPage County Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident.
