An CTA train operator was injured intervening in a domestic fight Monday night between an intoxicated couple on the North Side, officials said.
At one point, a beer bottle was thrown at the 44-year-old operator but missed, police said.
But a woman scratched the operator in the face, officials said.
Around 10 p.m., an operator stopped the Brown Line train at the Damen station to respond to a report of a disturbance on one of the cars, CTA officials said.
The disturbance was a domestic fight between a man and a woman on the train, who were both intoxicated, police said.
The conductor chased the passengers to the street but they got away before police could arrive and were not in custody Monday night, authorities said.
The operator was treated and released at Swedish Covenant Hospital for the scratches on his face, police said.
Trains stopped for about 20 minutes as authorities responded, according to the CTA.
