A Canadian truck driver was fatally shot Tuesday night during a robbery in the South Side Englewood neighborhood, police said.

Gary Clark, 39, of Courtice, Ontario, was found shot inside a semi-truck parked at a vacant lot located in the 5800 block of South Aberdeen Street about 8 p.m., authorities said.

Clark was in Chicago visiting relatives and parked his truck near his brother’s house, where he was staying, police said. Clark had planned on leaving Chicago on Wednesday morning, police said.

Investigators believe Clark was shot in the right hip when several males tried to rob him, police said.

Paramedics took the man to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead at 8:45 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Police have made no arrests.
