A 41-year-old man was ordered held on $3 million bail for allegedly murdering the mother of his 19-year-old daughter during a domestic altercation in unincorporated Antioch.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies, who were called to the residence in the 6000 block of West Bond Avenue, found 40-year-old Tammy L. Stone, unresponsive in a bedroom and tried life saving efforts before calling paramedics.
Stone later died at an area hospital.
Stone had called her daughter to the home after she got into a fight with the teenager’s father, Michael S. Axtell, police said.
When the daughter arrived, she found her mother with a blackened left eye, sparking a physical altercation between the teenager and Axtell, according to the sheriff’s office.
The young woman eventually went out to the garage, at which time she heard a suspicious noise coming from inside the residence, police said. Stone’s daughter, along with her two friends, went back in to the home and found Stone unresponsive.
Axtell had fled the residence on foot before sheriff’s police arrived. He was located by sheriff’s office personnel within hours of the incident and taken into custody.
His next court date is scheduled for October 25.
