Enjoy the morning sun and mild temperatures while you can Thursday, because the mercury will take a dive into the 30s this weekend, the National Weather Service warns.
Wednesday’s rain and 50-degree temperatures will give way to a mostly sunny morning Thursday, and breezy southwest winds will allow for temperatures to warm into the mid- to upper 70s, according to the weather service.
But the sunshine and warmth will be short-lived. After a strong cold front with scattered showers and possibly a storm passes through the area Thursday afternoon, temperatures will fall well-below through Sunday.
Lows will dip into the low 40s in much of the area Thursday night, and Friday will be chilly, with highs in the mid-50s. It will be partly cloudy and colder this weekend, with Saturday and Sunday highs in the lower 50s, falling into the mid-30s at night.
Highs still won’t break out of the upper 50s come Monday, Columbus Day, with lows in the mid-40s, according to the weather service.
