A Metra Electric District line train fatally struck a pedestrian Tuesday night in the South Side Hyde Park neighborhood, officials said.
Outbound train No. 237 hit the male pedestrian about 5:50 p.m. near 53rd Street, Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said.
The train, which was scheduled to arrive in Blue Island at 6:28 p.m., was stopped for at least an hour while crews investigated, according to Metra.
