Garbage crew finds body in bag

Authorities found a body in a dump truck in the Southwest Side Chicago Lawn neighborhood on Monday.
Police were called about 11 a.m. to the 6500 block of South California Avenue after a garbage crew saw a leg protruding from a garbage bag inside their dump truck, according to police News Affairs.
Investigators from the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office were also called to the scene, and authorities then found the body of a male inside the truck, police said.
A medical examiner’s office spokesman could not immediately say how old the person may have been or what the apparent cause of death was. An autopsy is schedled for Tuesday.
Area Central detectives are conducting a “death investigation,” police said.
