Police said they have located a car that they believed hit an officer early Thursday in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.
About 12:30 a.m., the Gresham District officer was standing outside his squad car and interviewing someone as part of an investigation, authorities said.
A vehicle, believed to be a green Cadillac, hit the officer and then sped off, according to police and unconfirmed dispatch reports.
Paramedics took the officer in stable condition to an area hospital, police news Affairs Officer Amina Greer said, adding that his injuries were not life-threatening.
Police found an unoccupied car matching the description of the one that hit the officer near the intersection of 79th Street and Prairie Avenue, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
