Traffic on Lake Shore Drive will be a little bit more crowded as a major resurfacing project begins today.
All four lanes in the sections between Sheridan and Foster and between Belmont and North will be resurfaced — a total of 2.75 miles.
At least two lanes will be open in both directions at all times. Southbound lanes will see no closures during the morning rush hour from 6 to 10 a.m., and all northbound lanes will remain open during the afternoon rush hour from 3 to 7 p.m.
The project, which will be paid through the city’s $7.3 billion infrastructure program, is slated to end by the first week of November.
