Man found decomposed in Englewood home

An autopsy is expected to determine if a man found decomposed late Monday was shot in his Englewood home, authorities said.
John Rich Sr., 66, of the 1000 block of W. 59th St. was found decomposed in his bedroom at about 9:45 p.m. Monday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office and police News Affairs. It was not immediately clear how long ago he died.
Police went to Rich’s home after a relative requested they do a well-being check, according to police News Affairs.
The medical examiner’s office said Tuesday morning that Rich had been shot, but later retracted that assertion pending an autopsy.
A live round of ammunition was found next to the body, according to a source.
Police listed Rich’s death as non-criminal early Tuesday.
