Police in southwest suburban Plainfield are searching for a masked man who shot at Burger King employees while apparently trying to rob the restaurant Sunday.
The suspect entered the Burger King at 11740 S. Route 59 in Plainfield at 9:51 p.m. and made his way to the back kitchen area, Plainfield police said in a release.
He displayed a black, semi-automatic handgun and fired at least one shot toward employees before running away westbound, the release said. The man did not say anything to employees or take anything before he fled, though police are investigating the incident as an attempted armed robbery.
He is described as a black male, about 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-8 with a medium build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black ski mask, the release said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Plainfield detectives at (815) 439-7653 or (815) 267-7209.
