An Austin neighborhood man died and two women were injured in a rollover crash early Monday in south suburban Dolton.
The one-vehicle crash happened about 3 a.m. on the ramp from the southbound Bishop Ford Freeway (I-94) to westbound 147th Street, Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Steven Tufenkjian said. A Chevrolet Suburban SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed when it rolled on the ramp.
The driver -- identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office as James J. Parson -- was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, Tufenkjian said.
Parson, of the 1600 block of North Monitor Avenue, was pronounced dead at 4:18 a.m. at Ingalls Memorial Hospital, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Two female passengers, ages 23 and 40 were taken to area hospitals in stable condition -- one to Saint Margaret Mercy Healthcare in Indiana and the other to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.
Tufenkjian said alcohol was found inside the SUV.
The ramp was closed as crews investigated but was reopened as of 6:30 a.m., police said.
