Pollution levels in Chicago area expected to remain high Friday
SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE June 29, 2012 7:26AM
Chicago-area residents are again being warned of unhealthy pollution levels for Friday.
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has announced an Air Pollution Action Day for the Chicago metropolitan area Friday, meaning “widespread ozone or fine particulate matter” levels are expected to be at or above an unhealthy level for sensitive groups.
People with pulmonary or respiratory disorders, such as asthma, should be especially wary, but active children and adults should also limit physical activity outdoors, the Illinois EPA said.
Information and Air Quality Index levels can be found at www.epa.state.il.us.
