Officer hurt attempting to make arrest in Lake View

An officer was recovering at the hospital Monday morning after cutting his hand in a struggle with a man he was attempting an arrest in the Lake View neighborhood.
The officer was assigned to the Pride Parade and attempted to arrest a man about 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of North Clark Street and West Belmont Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines.
An altercation ensued, during which some glass was broke and the officer suffered a cut to his hand, police said.
The officer was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said.
The man the officer was attempting to arrest fled the scene and was not in custody Monday morning, Gaines said.
Area North detectives are investigating.
