Two Chicago Park District swimming pools on the North and South sides opened Saturday after being closed for repairs to meet state safety requirements but eight others remain closed.
The outdoor swimming pools at River Park, at 5100 N. Francisco Ave., and Fuller Park, at 331 W. 45th Street, opened at 11 a.m. Saturday, according to park district officials.
The district opened nearly all of its 50 outdoor pools on June 15, however eight of the pools continue to undergo repairs so they can comply with the Illinois Swimming Facility Act (ISFA), which increased safety requirements.
Pools that are closed, but are expected to open soon include: Abbott Park, Gage Park, Hale Park, Hamlin Park, Norwood Park, Portage Park, Pulaski Park and Union Park.
