For true political junkies, this auction is for you.
Awards, golf bags, gavels and other items that used to belong to the late Cook County Board President John Stroger — and his son, Todd — will be auctioned off next weekend, June 30 and July 1.
Bunte Auction Services, at 755 Church Rd., Elgin, will conduct the auction, which also includes autographs and other “memorabilia from their extended political careers,” the company announced.
The items had been in a storage unit at Metro Self Storage, at Dobson and 87th, which is across from the studios of WVON where Todd Stroger — also a former county board president — has hosted a radio show. After a bill for the unit went unpaid, the contents were auctioned off in April and won for $450 by Warnell Dickson, of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Chris Amer, of Chicago.
At the time, Amer said the contents of the lockers included two replica Chicago Bulls championship rings that apparently belonged to John Stroger. There was also a photo of Stroger with former President Bill Clinton.
Potential bidders can view the items at the auction house from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 29, as well as the morning of the auctions, which start at 11 a.m. each day.
