Federal officials investigate Geneva church fire

Federal officials are investigating a “suspicious” fire that damaged a church Saturday night in northwest suburban Geneva.

Police and fire officials responded to the blaze around 8:40 p.m. at the First Baptist Church at 3455 Keslinger Rd., according to the Geneva police.

Details on how the fire started were not disclosed Wednesday night but law enforcement authorities believe the fire is suspicious. Because the fire involved a church, the case was turned over to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Geneva police said.
