A 14-year-old boy was shot and wounded while walking with another person Wednesday afternoon on a South Side street.
The boy was walking with a female about 3:25 p.m. in the 900 block of East 44th Street when a shooter approached and fired several shots, striking the boy in the back and arm, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.
Fire Media Affairs said the boy was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition, though Gaines said the boy was reportedly alert and speaking to police.
Area Central detectives are investigating.
