KNOBEL, Ark. — Authorities say a body found along train tracks in northeast Arkansas is that of a San Antonio, Texas, man who has been missing since boarding an Amtrak train from San Antonio to Chicago last month. The Clay County, Ark., sheriff’s office says investigators don’t yet know how or why 79-year-old Andrew Haukereid (pronounced HAWK’-ryd) left the train. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that Haukereid was traveling from his home in San Antonio to Chicago to celebrate his birthday. Clay County Sheriff Gerald McClung says a medical examiner identified the body by matching a gold tooth to Haukereid’s dental records. The sheriff says he does not suspect foul play and that the cause of death is still undetermined. Haukereid boarded the train on May 19 and was last seen in Little Rock later that night. His body was found Saturday along train tracks near Knobel.
