Far South Side fire leaves firefighter hospitalized

A fire on the Far South Side left a firefighter hospitalized Tuesday night.
The fire erupted in the 12200 block of South Union Avenue about 10:55 p.m., according to Fire Media Affairs.
One of the firefighters on the scene suffered a leg injury and was taken in good condition to a nearby hospital, Fire Media Affairs said, adding that crews extinguished the flame about an hour after it was reported.
The city’s Department of Family and Support Services was making arraignments for people displaced because of the fire, Fire Media Affairs said, but it remained unclear how many people the fire affected.
The Fire Department’s Office of Fire Investigations is looking into what caused the blaze.
