Two young boys who went missing Sunday showed up Monday morning — after spending the night hiding in bushes near their South Shore home, according to the police, who say Corey Colbert, 9, and his brother Christopher, 6, told officers they ran away from home because they didn’t want to clean up their room. Police issued an investigative alert for the boys Sunday, saying they’d last been seen playing basketball with other children in an alley in the 1700 block of East 68th Street. They slept outdoors and then showed up Monday morning at their babysitter’s home more than three miles from their home, according to the police.
