Woman dies following crash on Far South Side

A woman from the South Shore neighborhood died early Monday after she was involved in a crash Sunday night on the Far South Side.

Mia Jackson, 47, was pronounced dead at 1:21 a.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Jackson, of the 7400 block of South South Shore Drive, was involved in a motor-vehicle crash in the 9700 block of South Stony Island Avenue, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The Chicago Fire Department responded to the intersection of South Stony Island Avenue and East 97th Street at 8:32 p.m. Sunday and transported one person in serious-to-critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical in Oak Lawn at 9:07 p.m., according to Fire Media Affairs.

The address is close to an off-ramp from the Bishop Ford Expressway (I-94), but neither Chicago Police or Illinois State Police were able to provide information on the crash Monday morning.
