Police are searching the Pullman neighborhood for a motorist who fired shots at officers Thursday evening on the Far South Side.
The motorist fired at least one shot at police officers about 5:12 p.m. near South Yale Avenue and West 116th Street, said police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli, citing preliminary information.
The officer was not struck and returned fire but apparently did not hit the man, Mirabelli said.
A female passenger in the car was detained and taken into custody, but the man who fired the shot at officers remains at large Thursday night, Mirabelli said. Police have secured an area and are searching for the gunman as of 6:45 p.m.
Area South detectives are investigating.
